Evan Bell ’18

Although our student government has made admirable efforts to address a wide variety of student issues, I’m sure many of you would agree that it has performed less than adequately in a number of its endeavors, and these shortcomings have only exacerbated a general sense of apathy and cynicism in our student body. Should I be elected to represent you as a U-Councilor, I aim to push for innovative solutions to complex problems by making various USG processes less arcane and more openly democratic; to promote better relationships with struggling communities in our area to help develop a stronger sense of commitment to civic engagement; and to reduce unnecessary overlap in the USG in order to redirect resources to solving the issues you feel are most important. Kevin Bradicich ’18

Hey, I’m Kevin Bradicich and I would like to represent you on the University Council. Over this past year as a Freshman engineer and a member of the Varsity Squash Team, I have experienced the exciting, but sometimes crazy, life that we all lead on campus. It’s important that the University Council helps create an environment that best meets our academic, extracurricular, and personal needs, and does so by recognizing that we are here to learn, to be challenged and to have fun. Hey Princeton! My name is Jacob and I am current sophomore here on campus. I have been fortunate enough to serve on USG already as a U-Councilor this past year. During this time, I’ve had the privilege of serving my peers on projects such as Thanksgiving Buses, Wintersession scheduling, and also working on Princeton’s sexual misconduct policy and procedural changes. Aside from USG, I also sit on the CPUC Diversity and Institutional Equity Task Force. I’m super friendly and am incredibly passionate about working to make this place more comfortable for all of its students and easier where able to be. If re-elected, I would hope to finish my time on projects such as creating an all-inclusive student events calendar mobile app for campus, and also acting on USG’s recommendations to make this campus more amenable to students who take leave. Hey Princeton! Over the last year, I’ve had an amazing experience working with the 2018 Class Council, and I hope to have your support now as I run to be one of your U-Councilors! I’ve loved every minute of working with the great Class of 2018, but now I want to be able to serve the entire campus community to make Princeton the best place it can be. The Council of the Princeton University Community was established in response to student protests demanding a voice in decisions. I’m running because I want to use that voice. We’ve made amazing progress in the past years. But, we can’t stop there. We’ve reworded Rights, Rules, Responsibilities so that those who take time off due to mental health reasons are expected to reenroll. Now, we have to create a welcoming atmosphere to enhance student understanding and reduce confusion about the subject. We’ve revisited the grading policy and formally abandoned grade deflation. Now, we have to make sure that the policy is implemented and revisit other areas of grading, such as PDF election. We’ve successfully sponsored Thanksgiving buses to different cities. Hey Princeton! Serving on USG this past year as a U-councilor has meant a great deal to me, and that’s why I am running for re-election this spring. I have had the opportunity to work on several projects, including the Princeton 2019 Project and the Eating Club accessibility report, and would love to continue to have the opportunity to work on projects that make a positive impact on this campus. Some ideas I have are 1. Get the University to pave the path that goes from the front of Bendheim and connects to the back of Colonial and 2. Investigate why students cannot take only one semester off. I would like nothing more than to spend my senior year at Princeton working with other passionate campus leaders to bring you all more support and more fun. A few days ago I had no intention of running for U-Councilor, but my mind was changed as I was brought to realize what I could actually do in that position. I am running with the hopes of putting initiation and motivation back into an organization that may have been lacking. I hope to bring my experience within USG and my enthusiasm to the position of U-Councilor. I love my fellow tigers, and I want them to feel that.

Miranda Rosen ’18

Hey everyone! My name is Miranda, and I’m running to be your U-Councilor. Princeton is great – but there are so many ways it can improve. As your U-Councilor, I want to work on making a stronger community, provide you with better services, and give you actual opportunities to have your voice heard. I plan on doing this by working with career services to create more workshops and job fairs for underclassmen and in general to find more job opportunities in the arts and non-profits, holding small group dinners to discuss important issues on campus, reexamining grade deflation to make sure that we’re not still being affected by the policy, forming a council specifically dealing with race relations, increasing the amount of McGraw tutors during exam times, and listening you to find out your ideas, and presenting at least two them at every meeting. I’m running for U-Councilor this year to continue to make Princeton a more inclusive community, fight institutional inequity and expand access to resources, and represent the student voice. As a U-Councilor the last two terms, I’ve worked on the COMBO and Extended Leave reports, served on the CUAFA and Diversity and Equity Committees, and founded the Conversations Project. I’ve supported new open forums where USG directly implements student suggestions changes into resolutions, concretized the 19-point diversity/equity resolution, and challenged administrators at CPUC re:sexual assault, housing, and lock-out policy, advocating on behalf of student opinion. I serve on USG to make sure every student is represented and has access to the resources they need, and to create new opportunities for this campus to be more connected and more like home for every student here. Justin Ziegler ’16

These last few years have been incredible, and it’s scary to think that we only have one year left. Since we were frosh, Class Gov has organized service projects, formals, countless study breaks, and alumni events. I sincerely hope that these events have made your Princeton experience just a little bit better. But next year, the stakes get higher (and not just because most of us are 21). I will make sure that 2016 continues to build relationships with alumni for job opportunities after graduation. We will continue to host great events, as well as awesome and innovative pub nights. And finally, I will make sure that we have a commencement fitting to celebrate and commemorate our time here. It has been such a humbling experience to be your class President for the past two years, and it would be an honor to serve 2016 for one more.

I’m James Weldon, and I am running to be the Class of 2016 Secretary. I have served on the 2016 Class Council twice, first as the Social Chair and now as the Secretary. My time as a member of the Class Government has quite simply been the most rewarding part of my Princeton experience. In my time as Secretary, I’ve transformed the position, taking charge of all the organizational and administrative details of Class Government, such as sending all emails to the class and recording all minutes during our meetings. This new management role, coupled with my dedication to Class Government, has improved the efficiency of the 2016 Class Council and allows us to make better decisions in a more effective and timely manner. Remember those care packages that were at your door? They were part of my vision for Class Council to actually reach our entire grade, not just a self selecting minority. If you elect me as VP I will do my best to make more things like the care packages happen because I think that Class Council has the potential to do much more to serve ALL of us. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zachery Halem and I was raised in a small town in Westchester, New York. Fellow students, there has been a disease plaguing this campus in past years, and no, I’m not talking about meningitis. But need not fear, for the cure is simple: PrincetonWorks. As Treasurer of the Class of 2018, I plan to advocate for and launch PrincetonWorks, one of the largest and most revolutionary programs in our university’s history. As they used to say in Westchester, when something works, it works. And PrincetonWorks will work. Additionally, I swear, that under my leadership, our campus will be energy independent by 2017. I will also crack down on corruption at the highest levels like a python constricts its prey. Just remember, there are two types of Treasurers, doormats and matadors. Which do you want in office?

Hey awesome Princetonians! I hope to be your Class Treasurer for number of reasons. I did not run for Freshman Class Council last fall, but I quickly found that I did want some say in the decisions that affect our class. I am the right choice because I have experience in managing organization finances as the Treasurer of AdThis, especially in dealing with ODUS for our REACH Conference (and we secured nearly $15,000 in funding!). Furthermore, as a Social Vice-Chair of Mathey’s College Council, I have dealt with a number of external vendors. Most importantly, however, I assure you I will keep every promise I make because I never want you to feel like you were deceived for your vote.

Hey everyone! I’m Jenny Zhang, and I’m seeking re-election as Treasurer. After these few months, I realized that along with design, there is one extra curricular I really care about and enjoy: USG. I like USG because I like being part of the process that makes my classmates smile, even if it’s for a short amount of time. This year, we hand delivered care packages, designed free gear, organized the Winter Formal, and engaged in many memorable events. My goal is to create long-lasting memories that, in four years, can be looked back upon and make people happy. I think I have served the class well and wish to continue to do so because I have organized many events, managed class budget and transactions, and genuinely enjoy doing things for 2018. Refresh. Redefine. Revitalize. As a new face to class council, I want to refresh class council’s image and reach out to even more students in the class of 2018, while bringing the experience and knowledge I already have as secretary of other organizations to the role. Currently, class council caters to the student body on a broad scale; I want to redefine class council’s relationships with the members of the class by interacting more with students more personally. Moreover, I want to revitalize students’ experiences with extracurriculars by establishing class council as a source of support and partnership with extracurricular organizations. Specifically, I have found that many events put on by smaller organizations on campus often go under the radar but are incredibly worthwhile; many are further deterred because they are ticketed events. I believe class council can sponsor a certain number of tickets to these events for the class.
