How is this appropriate? There is no need to post the ranking and number of votes of every single person who ran for class council.
While we understand that posting results may be uncomfortable for candidates who did not win, that is certainly not our intent. Rather, we believe that:
1) People have a right to be able to verify the counts.
2) Errors have been made in the past, so this ensures accountability and makes the process transparent.
3) Like a real election, this is already public information through Helios.
Most importantly, it makes voters more conscious of the fact that their vote counts, so they should take elections seriously and put thought into the candidates they vote for.
At the same time, we do appreciate your feedback and understand your concern, so we have adjusted the votes visible on the page to show only the top 5 candidates, while still giving people the option of verifying the results by clicking above. Thank you for your comment!
