Spring 2015 Elections Registration

 

Hello all! Today marks the beginning of the USG Spring 2015 Elections. This year, Ella, Aleksandra and I have been spearheading an effort to encourage more people to run for office. This week, we will be releasing a video featuring outgoing U-Councilors discussing their experience working in USG, and I encourage you all to watch it and hear what they have to say. USG wants fresh voices, fresh faces and fresh ideas so that we can keep improving the organization and perform our main task better: working for YOU, the student body. That is our number one goal, and we want you to help us achieve that!

However, by being a member of USG, not only can you help students, but you can also learn valuable skills. As a U-Councilor, you will have the opportunity to lead your own project team, on a project you care about, with other students who are passionate about Princeton and want to improve the community. You’ll learn beneficial leadership skills, but you’ll also learn how to work with others and be a team player. USG can do a lot for you, too.

If you’re considering running, I encourage you to reach out to me, Ella or Aleksandra for more information. The era of big change starts with you, and now is the time. Together, let’s make Princeton a better place for all.

Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible to run. The positions up for election are:

• U-Councilor (10 will be elected)
• 2016, 2017, and 2018 Class President 
• 2016, 2017, and 2018 Class Vice President
• 2016, 2017, and 2018 Class Treasurer 
• 2016, 2017, and 2018 Class Secretary
• 2016, 2017, and 2018 Class Social Chair

Please carefully review the USG Elections Handbook for the full elections regulations. Failure to follow these procedures may jeopardize your candidacy.

Registration:

To register for the USG Spring Elections, you must submit the following by Sunday, April 12th at 5pm. Late registrations will not be accepted. By this deadline, you must:

1. Submit your petition for USG office with all necessary signatures. Submit a hard copy with physical signatures to the mailbox on the USG Office door, Frist 204.
2. Submit the candidate registration form electronically.
3. Submit your candidate statement and picture electronically. Once submitted, you may not edit or change your statement or photograph.
4. Attend an open house:

Tomorrow, April 7th at 8:30 pm in the USG Office (Frist 204)

Wednesday, April 8th at 8:30 pm in the USG Office (Frist 204)​​

Campaigning:

Campaigning officially begins as of noon next Monday (4/13). The details of campaign regulations are in the elections handbook.
